Browsing through an archive
Once an archive has been open, the contents of its root directory are
displayed inside the lister. Each line in the lister represents a file or a
directory (displayed in boldface) and shows some of its attributes. Which
attributes are actually displayed depends on what columns you have picked in
the preferences (see configuration/main lister).
Double clicking on a directory (directories are displayed in boldface and have
a small drawer beside their names), you make the lister display the contents of
that directory, thus going down one level in archive's directory tree. To go
one level up, i.e. showing the contents of the current dir's parent,
just press the Parent button, while Roottakes you directly to
the root dir.
The name of the directory whose contents are currently shown in the main
lister is displayed inside the text gadget at the top, while the popup gadget
on the right opens a small window
showing the tree structure of the archive.
Double clicking on a name inside that window takes you immediately to the
corresponding directory.
Below the main listview there are some text fields displaying the total size
of all objects contained into the current directory and the size of selected
objects. To select some files or directories just use the mouse over the
desired line of the lister, or use the popup selection object.
In facts, by clicking on the Select button, a popup object will be opened,
whose purpose is to let you specify a selection pattern. Once you have done it
click on the first button to include all files and dirs whose name match that
pattern, on the second to deselect all matching objects or on the third to
toggle selection of matching objects.
You can also select all/none or toggle the entire selection by activating the
corresponding items of the Select submenu, on both main menu strip and
main lister context menu.
Next to the name of the currently loaded archive there is a button, that
opens a popup object displaying some global info about the archive. This
object also contains a string gadget to change archive's comment.
